August 22, 2010

First of all, Happy birthday Miley girl!!! What a wonderful, emotional 2 years of existence! :) If I can remember all the things I have to talk about, this blog will prob be pretty long. Starting with....THE CRAZY PEOPLE ON THE SUBWAY!!!!! Holy cow! Ok, so you read in my last blog about the overactive cusser? WELL, Jerad and I went to eat last night and the subway door opens for us to get on and I see this man with a crazy look in his eyes. I said "i do not want to get on the car with that guy" but Jerad is a man and didn't really listen and was on the train b/4 i even had a chance to say I'd get on the one behind. So people are filing in and I hear the "watch out for the closing doors" so I hurry in. Now the whole time the crazy guy is walking around like he can't figure out if he wants to get off or not, clinging to this paper bag for dear life. Anyway, I go ahead and push my way in b/c I'm about to get left behind, which unfortunately involved nudging the psycho. HE FREAKING HIT ME!!!! No, not across the face but for those of you who know my Granny's John, it was like if you try to take his cards. He will hold his cards in front of you and elbow the crap out of you. So yea, this guy knocks me pretty hard in the arm and my eyes got HUGE and he says "you better watch where you putting your hands" Well, everyone on the train is watching this disgusting guy. I moved about a whole foot b/c that's all i could manage, and people told him he had forgotten his meds. He had prescriptions all over the seat, including an inhaler in the floor. THEN, he spit a loogie (sp?), apparently not his first, onto the rail that people hang on to. So there's this slime running down the pole and i was about to vomit.. I then moved to the other door. This other guy just looked at me and shook his head. THANK GOODNESS that guy got off on the next stop. Then, when it was time for us to get off at our stop, I got squished! I could literally feel my ribs being pushed inward towards each other b/c people were fighting to get off. It's so inhumane on those subways at times. They don't give you NEAR enough time to get on and off. There's just too many people filing in and out! So we eat dinner, which i'll tell you about, and get back on the subway/train (i interchange these words) and what do we have? Another crazy? This one wasn't scary, in fact, he had half the train laughing pretty hard. He was scrawny and either drunk, crazy, homeless or all 3. He had no front teeth and was walking up and down the car hollering and making weird noises. He was preaching in Spanish about how Americans treat Puerto Ricans unfairly. Jerad and I can't speak Spanish fluently but we both got that much from it. The guy reeked too and he would grab the pole and dance around. He even got in some poor guys face and was talking. I would vomit from the smell. No one talked back and most of us tried to hide our laughter when he was watching so that he wouldn't be enticed. This morning, I was walking through the station and before I even reached the stairs I heard someone talking very loudly. I couldn't make out what they were saying. I rounded the steps slowly to make sure there were other people. There were a ton luckily but the guy (and again, drunk, homeless, crazy or all 3) was at the bottom of the steps yelling about how someone didn't murder someone. I dunno but luckily the train came and I made sure to get on where he was NOT! Ok, done with my subway stories :) Travel at your own expense!
Dinner-Jerad took me to a place last night called Country Hill. I had bbq and bud light. It felt like home :) It was a neat place. You took your card to these different areas. The meat counter, sides counter, and dessert counter. You got whatever you wanted and however much you wanted. They marked your card and when you got done, they rang up what all you got at the register. It really wasn't too expensive. They even had real fruit juice margaritas! I mean, I never stopped to even think of that as a possibility! It's just tequila and margarita mix right?! lol But seriously Mom, it was the closest thing I've had to a home cooked meal that I've had since I've been here so you should be happy. Not quite as good as home, but still pretty good! They even had great cornbread!!
I went to church this morning. It was the Manhattan Church of Christ. It definitely was different from the Church of Christs I've attended. It just felt a little fake to me and maybe for show. The congregation was small too. I stayed 50 min, at which point they released the children to what they called VBS and I headed for the door. They still had not started preaching and I would have gotten way more out of sitting at home reading my Bible. And people back home cannot complain about the kids at our church. These kids were LOUD and out of control. One was running up and down the aisle. He ran up on the stage...i'm not kidding! One man was praying and busted out in song. His eyes were still shut and his head bowed but he was singing at the top of his lungs. Some of you may do this at your church but it was a little weird for me.
Last night when Jerad and i arrived to our apartment building this couple walked out and...HAD A DOG! I said "JERAD! They just came out of our building" He said "yea i know" He was probably thinking "oh Lord, please make her keep her mouth shut" and for those of you who don't know, the landlord allows all pets EXCEPT dogs and I had to leave my baby Tucker back home with Mom and Dad. (thanks Mom!) Anyhoo, so i left for church this morning and they were out with the dog. I asked them if the owner allowed it and he said he was dogsitting for the weekend. SO, guess I won't make a fuss about that.
A lot of you may already know this, but apparently bed bugs are quite a problem in New York which DISGUSTS me!!! They have infested movie theaters and I found out at work yesterday, that the Victoria's Secret down the road had to close for 2 hours b/c the bed bugs got so bad! can you even imagine?! And bed bugs in your lingerie?! AHHHH! No way!!!
And yea, I had my first day of work at my home store, checking people out and being supervisor. It was pretty uneventful tho and the store was slow. I really like the managers and the girls that worked cash seemed pretty nice! I even got my lovely name badge and it already says "supervisor" Yes, i'm a nerd but i'm excited :) It made for a long day but luckily my legs aren't hurting today!! :)
Well guys, I've covered a lot and probably not everything on my mind. If you stuck this blog out to the end, thank you!!! I'm thankful for all you guys everyday! Really! Enjoy your Sunday and have a good work week!
Love,
Sheray
